The People's Climate March
KAILUA-KONA » APRIL 29th, 2017
Officers from the Democratic Party of Hawai'i were in attendance at the People's Climate March & Rally, a free and family friendly community event presented by Rally For Common Ground, at Hale Halawai on Ali'i Drive. The march looped through downtown Kona from 2-3pm, and returned to Hale Halawai for a full program of inspiration, music, action booths, keiki zone, and ono island food from 3-6pm.
Performers included Hawane Rios, Hualalai, Ka'ahele & Ydine and more. A full spectrum of presenters including experts from the scientific, cultural, energy, activist, political and economic sectors shared words of wisdom on how we can ALL, individually and together, contribute to a sustainable and regenerative Hawai'i. Over 25 booths presented by local organizations and vendors working for sustainability were also on offer!
April 29th was a global day of action, with hundreds of thousands of people taking part in Climate marches all over the world. We marched for Jobs, Justice, the Environment and for the generations to come! Hawai'i County Democratic Party officers and members were proud to join forces with like minded people and organizations all over the world coming together to seek creative solutions for the health of our natural environment and our communities..
We resist, we build, we rise! We raise our voices in resistance to the insanely irresponsible deregulation of the Trump administration that threatens our natural resources and the future of our planet. We stand in solidarity and truth to inspire, educate and activate for a regenerative and restorative Hawai'i island. We rally and build for a fossil fuel free future and a clean and renewable energy economy. Climate change is upon us, it is our global kuleana to be loving stewards. "We do not inherit the earth from our ancestors; we borrow it from our children". We will gather at Hale Halawai Park at 2pm and embark on a march loop through downtown Kona ending back at Hale Halawai at 3pm for a rally featuring music, inspirational speakers, food, entertainment, action booths from local non-profits, and consciously minded vendors.
A groundswell is upon us! No profanity on signs please. Creativity is highly encouraged.
