The 2019 Hawai‘i County Democratic Party convention will be held on Saturday April 13th from 7:30 am-3:30 pm at the Honoka’a High School Cafeteria at 45-527 Pakalana Street.
This will be an exciting convention with a full agenda. Our program will include electing new Hawai’i County Officers, speeches from elected officials, and a forum including: the history of the DPH in Hawai’i, the roles and responsibilities at all levels of the party, the 2020 Presidential Preference Poll, and the National Presidential candidate nominating procedure.
Only delegates to the convention are allowed to vote in the election of new County Officers. A new rule defining delegate selection was adopted at the 2018 County convention. Automatic delegates include: all precinct club officers, District Chairs, HCC Officers, SCC members, and elected officials (Federal, State, and County) who were elected as Democrats or who are members of the Democratic Party who were elected in a non-partisan election. In addition to the automatic delegates, each District is allowed an additional 10 delegate and 5 alternate positions. You may also participate in the convention as a non-voting observer. Please contact your District Chair if you are interested in being a delegate or an alternate. Online registration will be available at the end of February. Registration must be completed by April 8th 2019 to guarantee your delegate or alternate position.
Fee Waivers Available
We will have a limited number of partial fee waivers to offer for those for whom the convention registration fee is prohibitive (does not cover the cost of lunch). If you would like to apply for a waiver, please contact your District Chair.
Mahalo to everyone who plans to participate. We look forward to April 13th being a great day!
